Hi - we've just had a laptop come back to us with a n NT image on. It boots up to the NT log-on screen, then when you enter the password (either user or local admin) it plays the NT start mucis, then immediatly returns to the alt-ctrl-del screen. Any ideas??!

It's broken ;-)
I wouldn't waste any time on that, just re-image it.
Chances are it's a problem with the 'Default User' profile (is it a domain member and have you tried logging in with a user with a roaming profile?).
You could try looking in the profiles folder using the admin share but it's a long shot....

As much as I hate not to fix something - the answer in this case was to give them a loan laptop (they left at 11am) & shove their old laptop on the 'old anyway, not important' pile...

I'd love to know how that happened though - nobody here (including my old 3rd line team) had ever seen it before.
