I fear it may depend on the type of car. 
Some cars attract more attention so we look for stickers. I've not moved home or job so doing the same journeys, day in, day out, I used to get spotted regularly driving a loud TVR -- now, not so much.
Look at the spots here for nice cars but no stickers. It seems to be the car, not the PH Sticker that gets the 'spot'.

Beautiful day for season opener at Castle Combe yesterday.
Doesn't really count as a spot as I was chatting to him, but nice to see Flyin Banana.
Saw plenty of other nice cars in the car park - couple of Chimaeras, red wedge and red GT86 amongst many others - missed stickers if they were there though.
