Hi

Wondered if anyone can help, going to look at a new (to me) daily stter at the weekend, 1998 1.8 A4 Avant. Car has just over 90k on the clock, it's up for £1.5k.

Is there anything I should pay particular attention to before I hand over the cash?

Thanks

Rob

Manual or Auto? Manual check for clutch operation and see if its been replaced. A new clutch kit is mega bucks. Also belts too. Basically should be stamped up every 10,000kms by proper workshop or dealer.

Front suspension arms suffered ball joint failure. There was a recall, check if car done otherwise it could be expensive. Can be heard as a 'groan' from the front end at slow speed over bumps or when cornering. There are eight arms in total, four each side.

If left, front suspension can collapse, it happened on mine '97 car.
