Which IPOD charges with BMW kit

Ok, picked up my 650i sport convertible today complete with ipod connection in glove compartment and it does not charge my 4th gen Nano. Got the exact same thing with my Arcam dock so thought it would happen in BMW as well so looking at alternatives that will work. I could take a step back and buy a 3rd gen Nano but wondered which models you guys have found that actually charge, as want to keep it in the car rather than take it in to charge every day
