Hi all, my local VW tech told me that the weird knocking noise could be the engine mount. The noise occurs mainly when coming on and off the accelerator in low gears. Its quite annoying. I was wondering how much would this cost? I did not have time to work it out at the dealership.

Which mount is it? I'd hazard a guess at an hour for the front one or two for a rear.

im not sure, sorry. how much is an hours labour at a VW dealership? what exactly is the engine mount (as stupid as that sound)? will they need to change the 'mount' itself?
thanks

The mount is what connects the engine to the car, if that makes sense. It holds the engine in place. If the mount snaps, then it can potenitally mean a whole new engine block is required. Trust me, you don't want that to happen.
