Finally managed to upload a couple of vid's showing the motor running. Should have posted this up last week but had a nightmare with the exhaust, it warped while I was welding it so didn't fit well enough.

Anyway.... we just had to press the button.evil Click on the link below the pic.

First start up

So after welding in a couple of flex tubes the exhaust fits nicely and removes the weight hanging off the manifolds. Just need to fab up the exhaust tails now. Click on the link, enjoy thumbup

Listen to that blower

Here's the final exhaust system, I've copied a Chim system with the silencers under the prop shaft, the system is twin 3" with a balance pipe under the T56 6 speed gearbox.

Still loads to do before it turns a wheel, got to rebuild the diff and fit the tuscan pedal box, but its great to finally get her running.

Rich.

Out of intrest what was the cost of the blower install on the engine.I was quoted £4500 for the Vette, with inter coolers. They reckoned it would have given me 630bhp.PM me if you dont want to list the price here.

That looks like it means business! The vid viewing will have to wait til I get home to turn the volume up.

How far below the chassis is the bash plate hanging? I still can't believe you got the exhaust past the T56 where it bulges out below the shifter!

Thanks for the comments boys,

I recon I'm going to change my sign on name, when I first joined I was one of only a few who would take a spanner to their own car, now there's loads of like minded people out there scratchchin

Supercharger fits no prob under the original bonnet, the sump is 10mm below the bottom chassis rail.

IIRC I paid £3500 for the supercharger kit, ex demo kit, 630bhp is what I've heard for mine at 12psi with a mild cam, std everything else. Its at 6psi at the moment, hoping to see the magic 500bhp with the option to go to 9psi if I don't. Wouldn't mind camming it when I fit my LS7 clutch I've got kicking around but we'll see what its like first.

Morning Don smile, bash plate is 2 x original spacers plus a couple of washers low, although with the flex tubes fitted the silencers will sit a bit higher now so I'll probably adjust it once the diff and prop are back in. I wanted a minimum of 100mm ground clearance, as per our Skyline. I'm more worried about hitting the carbon front splitter than knocking the exhaust eek that would hurt.....I think I'd cry.

Its sitting 150mm front and 160mm rear measured to the corners of the out riggers at the moment, does that sound about right??

Rich.

I've always understood the correct ride height from the outriggers should be in the order of 135mm, but having said that I've seen a range of quite significant variations on that number posted here over the years. I wouldn't worry about what's 'correct', if it looks right and drives right for what you're doing with it then that's all that matters.

ETA: The outriggers are only a few mm higher than the bottom chassis rail IIRC. From the pics it looks like your exhaust / bracing plate is hanging about 40mm below the chassis rail, which suggests if you want 100mm clearance, your ride height measured at the outriggers should be 140-150ish.

Look forward to seeing it out of the workshop and on the road. scratchchin could be no.2 in the power league with that supercharger. I was only expecting book value from mine of 430hp 424lbs/ft torque but turned out to be much more when it was on the dyno. I hope you get a good surprise and when you're driving it you will love it.

BTW what tyres have you got there

I love superchargers, looking forward to seeing what numbers it makes. Are you and Brummmie going to see who can get the most hp? his normally aspirated but large capacity and well tuned, and yours relatively std spec but forced induction? that would be cool to see the comparison on the graphs and in the real world smile
