Hi all,

I'm planning on taking the 3R round the Nordschleife this April. Anyone got experience of taking their car onto the ferry? Is there not ground clear problems getting on?

I'm planning on the Newcastle to IJMuiden - DFDS seaways ferry.

Cheers
Kenny

Shouldn't be any issues at all as long as you are at 'boarding speed.'

DFDS have always been helpful when I've used them. It's much easy when you don't have the standard front splitter on however. I've never been from Newcastle but a lot depends on the tide state when boarding at some ports.

You should be fine.

hi kenny,

the loading guys always keep an eye out for low cars in case of a problem and are helpful in my experience, been the same with a few different companies. should be ok with the 3r clearance, much less hassle with splitter off.

when you going? will be there in may and looking at trying to organise a noble 'ring trip possibly at end of july if you're interested?

take two small blocks of wood with you - you can push one under each front wheel to gain a bit more height

When i went to Norway via ferry i had to wait till last and they had to find 4 planks of wood to get me on. All very slapstick and amusing. Cant remember if i had the splitter on or off.

This reminds me of Clarkson and chums trying to get their motors out of that Paris hotel car-park entrance. biggrin
