Has anyone tried Beckham's Haig Club Scotch?
Lovely bottle, but very bland. Well marketed though, it certainly doesn't sell on taste.
Looks like perfume, tastes like it too.

Much better whisky is available for the money.

Picked up a couple of daily drinkers...

Benriach 1999, 13 YO Virgin Oak Finish - a limited release apparently, but I'm hoping it'll be like The Whisky Shop's exclusive 17YO that was amazing.

Glendronach 8YO The Hielan On advice from fellow whisky drinker Coneyhurst Blue I've relented and ordered one to try hehe

Courtesy of a lovely PHer on here 9thank you good sir!), I also have acquired a bottle of Glendronach's Manager's Cask (the distillery fill) lick

Happy Days biggrin

The 17yo was/is lovely. I have 2 bottles stashed away at home to enjoy later. Most of the first bottle was enjoyed by my father who doesn't like whisky!

So, this PHer.........

Who is it?
What did you have to do obtain it? wink

Well, the release for tomorrow is a bit disappointing actually! Almost all BenRiachs (which while very good doesn't offer a range from different distilleries). With current currency conversion you divide by 12.5 to get the price in £ if you're interested in anything.

Anything in particular?

I have just seen I can get Hakushu 18yo for around £110 at the moment if I go a little drive. Is it worth it at that price? Trying to remember if it was the one previously mentioned as being someone's favourite or it was something else? Seems I can also get the Yamazaki 12 for £50, which is better than the silly prices on Amazon (£90 if you're wondering!).

The 1977 Dark Rum Cask but it just too much at the moment as I have a huge garage bill coming very soon.

The Yamazaki 12 is well worth £50 and the Hakushu 18 is also not a bad price but it depends on how long the drive is.

I once got a bottle as a present, and really liked it. My over riding memory is of horlicks and malteasers. Soft, slightly sweet, beautifully rounded.

Hakushu is really being overlooked in the race for Yamazaki, but I think it holds up well.

Tescos currently has Jim Beam Devil's Cut for £20. I really like the extra wood and spice the process gives, and it's a good buy at £27 a bottle. £20 is a steal!

Good man - for a daily dram it's hard to beat for the price.
What do you think of the hand-filled, its fantastic !
The new managers cask is a 2004 - should be interesting.

There are couple of noticeable whiskys that are on offer today.

Firstly the Brualladich (or whatever it is) Octomore 6.3, which is the world's peatiest whisky £130.99 instead of circa £150 at most places.

Secondly the Jura Prophecy down to £40 from a genuine £50.

Today is also free delivery, even for just one bottle.

I have no affiliation but have always wanted the 6.3 in my restaurant so have kept a beady eye on the price.

I know some of you know each other, if you sign up for the newsletter then refer each other you will save a lot of money.

This time last week I was heading off to Dramboree!
I had an amazing time there and tasted these bottles amongst others:

I would definately recommend this event to anyone considering it for next year

My modest collection:

I still find it difficult to justify spending more than £35 on a bottle (yep, I'll hand in my PH pass on the way out...), but any suggestions in that price range appreciated smile

(The Jim Beam came back from a party, I'm not that fussed with it).

The Old Pulteney and both of the Bowmores are rather lovely. The small batch reminds me of a slightly lighter Laphroaig lick

Try a Jura.

And personally I think everyone should have a bottle of Monkey Shoulder on the go.

Thanks. Tried and enjoyed both actually (although I can't remember the Juras - Superstition and Origin I think), but don't have either at present. smile

Off to Atlanta for a week on Sunday - anything bourbon-ey I should keep an eye out for?

Good value for money, and not a bad whisky.

However, don't try and drink a whole bottle of it on your company night out... (I asked for a large scotch, the barman gave me the bottle thinking he was funny, whereas I grabbed it and wondered off...)
