Warning Light Symbol Panel
Discussion
Just a little note about the MIL lamp with the 14CUX as implemented by TVR. This is worth tackling if you are taking the dash off to update the symbol panel.
Firstly, with the standard TVR software the MIL lamp will NEVER come on if fault codes are present in the ECU. It is prgrammed to flash briefly at ignition-on as a bulb check. This is normal, and Land Rover prgrammed it this way for all territories except North America (where it is a legal requirement).
However you won't see the TVR one come on at all, because it isn't wired correctly. Lucas intended that the MIL lamp shoud have an ignition-switched live feed, and the ECU would earth the lamp to turn it on. However TVR supplied the lamp with an earth, believing that the ECU would supply 12 Volts to it.
If you have your dash apart, it is worth changing the feed to the MIL lamp from Earth to ignition-switched live (available from one of the other lamps near it).
Should you have the Tornado software, this will always activate the MIL lamp if there are fault codes presnt in the ECU. Note that any fault code will activate the MIL lamp, even if it is something obscure like the Purge Valve which has no effect on normal driving.
Late vehicles which have the MIL lamp to the right of the tacho are wired correctly.

Green Meanie, can your supplier do other things?
I have been after black number plates for ages. You can’t get them translucent and black.
Could something translucent black background, silver letters that looks like a number plate be made up?
The ideal would be something that the letters were only visible when illuminated. If the numbers were etched on the inside, would they only be visible when illuminated?
Obviously I want these for show use only. They wouldn’t be road legal as people might ‘switch off’ the number plates when going past scamera’s or in area’s covered by SPECS average speed detectors.
The rear could go into the original bodywork, but the front might need some sort of light box to mount into.
Ideally with a quick detachable fixing to attach the road legal plates to go over the top?

I've got pre-73 plates on my Moonraker Black Griff. I have been after black number plates for ages. You can’t get them translucent and black.

I spoke to many manufacturers about getting these knocked-up with back-lighting but it never came to anything. When the car is back from Powers Bodyshop I'll post some shots for ya. . . . erm, and next time it's at a show of course .
Hi Guys
Just had a few E.Mails about these panels,as I only have one or two left . I could do with knowing if anyone else is interested as the guy who made them will only do the in batches of 10.I will need to contact him if there is enough people wanting them.
Seems a few of you are on with some winter projects
By the way the HEATER PANEL IS ON HOLD unless there is enough interest to make a few of them.
HEY THERE Baretti do you fancy trying the second prototype out in your Griff, the one I showed to you at the Growl ( I know that the window symbols may be too large ) but it would be good to see if everything else fits.
Thanks
G.M
