Can anyone reccomend a nice set of deep split multispoke wheels that are 15" with 4x100 fitment?

as the title says, i know its generally frowned upon, but my parents being lovely people have gone apest with me for wanting (and arranging) to swap my golf for an MR2, and to deter me they have said that for my 20th they will give me about 250-350 for something for my car. I have decided to go for a nice set of wheels.

A good description of what im after would be BBS RS or BBS LM but without the price tag. They are to go on my VW golf, and as the 'euro style' has grown on me im wanting to move my golf in that vague direction. Obviously i dont want stupidly low with silly big wheels, just a little lower to help wth handling (its a bit boat-tastic at the moment) and some nice wheels just to improve the looks a bit.

anyway, im prepared to be ripped to shreds by the usual lot but hopefully i will get 'some' advice.

Thanks

Thom

because 'we paid a lot of money for the car' and 'its worth more than 1100 so you losing out on money'

when the reality is we were raped when we bought the car, and its actually worth less than 1100, but obviously having 'lived longer' they are 'more experience in life'

oh and the fact the cars in dads name :S

£250 is not going to get you a good set of wheels, tyres and lowered suspension!

If the car is in your dads name then presumably your on his insurance to. Could you put this money towards getting your own insurance for it?

Get yourself on www.edition38.com/forums and check out the classifieds. Should be plenty of wheels going cheap.

so you're buying something for a car you are going to get rid of. Something that will only reduce its value further. Apt new username.

i know, i work for halfords so get 15% off whatever wheels i order through them, and they are adding up to 350. i am paying the rest.

the lowering can wait, and the wheels come with tires so even tho they are usually quite crap money for new tires isn't a necessity.

the insurance is in dads name, yes. BUT it will be in my name as of may and i am able to pay for that myself so theres no need for the money to go there

no im not going to be getting rid of it for a while. and if i come to sell it i will just put the original wheels back on and sell the aftermarket ones.

not rocket science.

Gonna struggle with a 5 door mk3 to look cool, but then folks said that to me and my mk2 and it looked ok

Reckon some 17's would suit better and a big, big drop. But hey that's me. How some 2nd hand mk4 GTI 16's, paint them black, drop it on the deck..

Mind you mk3 golf in google gets some interesting results

why not just save the money for something you really want?? Instead of spending more money on a car that you spent too much money on in the first place?

still , not a bad motor!

I think the wheels currently on the car are nice and suit the car nicely. Getting larger wheels/lower suspension doesn't really suit the car imo and will devalue it if anything. So when you do come to sell it, you'll be able to do so easily etc and at a reasonable price.

If you have to keep the car and have to spend the money on it, I'd buy it a nice stereo and set of speakers. It's something you can enjoy and sell/keep separately if/when you get rid of the car.

However, I think the best thing to do is bank the money and put towards next car in a year or so to keep the parents happy.

I disagree with the comment about making 5 doors cool, they're much less obvious than 3 doors. Some subtle lowering and some nice wheels will improve it no end.

However, do I remember reading that the car has damage? If so, fix that first.

HAHA, love that MK3, everytime i see a picture of a VW looking like that it makes me chuckle.

i was thinking something like these would suit it down to the ground

£540 with 195/45/15 tires or £520 with 195/50/15 tires

through work they would probably cost me about £450 then £30 for some paint and i could spray the centres the same colour as the car.

Yeah, those Lenso's are a good buy.

Quality is a grey area though- There have been stories of BBS RS replicas buckling and such like.

leave them black centered, but it will need to be low to carry them off.
