Hello Chris, I'm your neighbour that you just asked about it - did a quick Google search and found some possible info about the beeping, but the bloke doesn't seem to be 100% certain that it's accurate, but it may be useful.

I keep hearing a beep beep beep
Probably the power steering computer telling you there is a problem with the system. The number of beeps before pausing will indicate the problem.
1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.
2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:
The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)
3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:
The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.
4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:
The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.
5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

Have never run accross this myself nor could I locate any reference to it in the factory shop manuals. Do you have an aftermarket steering wheel or is it not centered? Maybe something to that anyway. Wonner could be right too if the coolant is slightly low in the top of the radiator. There should be an air bleed screw on the radiator next to where the upper hose connects. If you loosen it slightly and only coolant comes out then level is ok but sensor may be at fault. The level sensor is in the center of the radiator top tank. Not positive but I think disconnecting and jumpering to ground will bypass the sensor and maybe rule that out.
Also some info about testing for worn coolant seals (although I've no idea what or where they are!) - taken from here: http://mazdaforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12830...

For loosing coolant it might be your coolant seals are gone. Fill the filler necker all the way to the top. Have someone crank the car with the EGI fused pulled out (in the fuse box under the hood) If coolant is pouring out your seals are bad and is time for a rebuild

Hi Mate,
Fellow RX7 owner here! I'm by no means an expert but I'll try and help;

First off I’d recommend heading over to Mazda Rotary club as the guys on there really know their RX’s.

The coolant buzzer sensor is located slightly down the neck of the filler and as such is only takes the coolant to be a little low for it to go off (and keep going off). There are two places you can add coolant, the overflow tank located on the left of the engine bay, or the fill neck located in the centre (Which has a metal cap), this is the one to use. You should be able to see the coolant in the neck when removing the cap if not, add some until it’s full.

I check mine once a week and it does go down slightly but is still visible in the neck. I was lead to believe that RX’s burn a little coolant off during warm up, which accounts for the white smoke you see on start up.
Other than the obvious issue are you pleased with your purchase.
