No. Far too expensive for 120,000 miles.

a) Does it have full history?
b)Does it look like a 56 plate?
c)Does it drive like a 56 plate?
d)Does it have any warranty left?

I would suggests if the answer to these items is yes, then its probably not silly money.

The car has 5 main dealer stamps, drives and looks great but no warranty, I'am looking to do 25k a year driving just worried if the car can cope with that kind of mileage or am i going to be looking at huge repair bills.

Audi Q7 quattro S Line
3.0TD Diesel 5-door Station Wagon
6 Speed Automatic Four Wheel Drive
Year: 2006 56
Mileage: 120,000

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£14650
Average condition:
£12900
Below average condition:
£11300

Money seems about right to me, but 25k miles a year on a car like that, with 120k already on it, doesn't sound like fun at all.

We see them having discs and pads ever other service 25k ish and tyres dont always last 10k, and there over £200 each. Inlet manifold flaps+motors £800 common failure as are turbo's on the earlier Q7's. Never seen one at that millage myself so dont really know what there like up there, but auto box's generally are a bit hit a miss 120-140k+.

I got one on the ramp at the moment waiting parts its a 2008 with 8k miles, Needs an engine and some other bits and bobs, the bill is £18,000. This one was driven through water so is an insurance job, but if you had a chain snap of something you'd be looking at the same cost to replace the engine.

Mother of God were you not afraid when the engine came out that the car was going to fall backwards off the lift?

Look at the weight of that engine, box and subframe!

Yes very!!, there's a 6 foot axle stand under the rear diff just in case, but it was actually ok.

How deep was the water for this to be affected!?

I would have thought it could cope with whatever the average Q7 owner throws at it...

£15K seems a competitive price for the Q7, but I don't think its a good idea if your doing 25k a year as it will quickly reach sky-high mileage. As its out of warranty your also potentialy looking at seriousley expensive repair bills. It would work out OK for someone doing relatively low miles as it would eventually average out, but in your case I would avoid it. Have you tried looking at VW Toueregs? Basicly the same car but cheaper and better (less chav) image.

EDIT: It didn't make sense before

For £15k and 25k/year mileage there are far better prestige vehicles you can get. A well specced A4, S4, BMW 5 Series/3 Series, etc

In theory a well looked after engine should be good way past 120k but if something is wrong it could be costly!

It would be a very comfortable car to do 25k a year in, and there are two ways at looking at this. Do you buy a high mileage cars, cheap, and rack a whole load of miles up, or do you buy a low mileage car for say £10k more, and stick loads of miles on it. The first car has done lots of depreciating, and serviced correctly 200k+ is no problem for it - But this will be without a a warranty. However I would certainly put an extended 'decent' warranty on there for piece of mind. The later car will de-value quicker, as there is more to de-value, but you get the bosnus of warranty.

If you can get a decent extended warramty for the high mileage car, you will save yourself a few quid over a lower mileage model, due to the purchase and depreciation costs.

Te Britich are still big worriers with 100k+ miles, probably due to the state of our roads, go into europe and they do 500k km+ easily in their cars.

If it were me, I would bid £12500 for the Q7, as there will be evry few people wanting that, due to our 'britsh' attitude, have a warranty on it, and save some money.

Just my tuppence - Hope that helps

bet you could get that at auction for around 16. i'd rather pay a few extra grand and get much lower mileage
