I went to see a 2005 996 gt3 today and it did not have the factory sticker underneath the front bonnet.
I thought porsche stopped sticking it on 997s?

The car was utterly beautifull apart from that. No signs of accidents or paint at all.

It was inspected by JZM last august and could not possibly have had an accident between then and now.
There is not even a sign that the sticker was ever there. Strange.

Should i walk away?

I think there should be another copy of the sticker in the warranty book?

It should, but they cannot be replaced. Consequently if the bonnet has been replaced or repainted (which could be the case for reasons for which there is no cause for concern, such as a dent from a stone flipped up into it from a car in front at speed on a track day) then the sticker will not be there.

Service history book will have one so long as it isn't a replacement. TBH if it passed a professional inspection I wouldn't bother about it in the slightest - all it tells you is what options were specified on the car from the factory.

Just found this on 911uk:

From the 2005 Model year Porsche no longer put the option sticker under the bonnet
so this applies to all 997's and 987 Boxster
AND Also to 2005 chassis year 996

http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=410412&hi...

So no need to worry.

Brilliant Mike!

That' s exactly what i was expecting...

It felt a bit odd at first.

Of course the service book had the sticker in it, but i became very suspicious when the sticker underneath the front bonnet was missing...

Wierdly, mine has it under the bonnet but not in the service book. I guess the one affixed to the car is the most important for resale. But then I'm now guessing I have a hookey, forged service book smile

Don't matter now anyway, it's only worth a Kit Kat in px these days...

Ray, if your car is pre 2005 and you haven't owned it from new then it is likely a previous owner /dealer has lifted the sticker from the service book and stuck it under the bonnet to replace one that was removed / damaged in a repair. It's an old trick.

And if your car is 2005 or later then there was never one there in the first place and the previous owner was worrying unecessarily! I saw a 2005 996 GT3 that someone had done that too.
