New v8 project
Discussion
Hi All,
Well after a day of fighting rain we got the Toyota just about in, I forgot to cut off the old gearbox mounts so the engine needs to go back another 2" to be able to put the front support back in.
The only other mod I have to do is the side top of the foot wells has to be cut back to fit the manifolds, as I don't need the clutch it is not a problem (only 3" to cut off) done one side to get the engine in.
I think the V8 had a bulge in the bonnet, guess I will have to mod mine to make it fit, the bonnet is about 1 1/2 high at the moment.
Looking for a picture of a V8 bonnet side by side with a S1.
Just put these on flicker

I have a 5 speed S1 gearbof for free if anyone needs one

Wow thats a tight fit!
Is that going to give you issues with the rear exhaust ports - I guess thats what you're saying above?
Also not sure a V8S bonnet will work as the hump is offset but it might be a better starting point than the standard V6 S bonnet.
I don't know if there is an easier way with flickr but if you open the picture, right click on it & select properties it will give you the http:\\ URL for the picture. Highlight that & right click again and select copy.
Paste that into the forum and put at the end so
gives the first pic below. (I use photobucket with gives you these links to paste in)

Hi All.
Slow at the moment, off with bad feet due to spilling chemicals down my boot + it is like English summer here raining hard.
Yes I am putting the 20" wheels on, I have had them on the front with no problem, clearance is good and turning lock is fine. I have a few bits still to get then I have enough to keep me going for 2 weeks.
I am having problems with bearings for the rear hub carriers, the ones I have are from a Scorpio 2.9 but they don’t match, we are trying to find the right ones, I through the old ones away without taking down the numbers, the ones they have are not 2 X taper bearings like I have but 1 thick bearing.
The front 5 stud conversion is done and the disc are ready to go on, I have used the 300mm vented from a 5 stud focus, my friend did the re drilling to 5 X 108 as the Focus is 5 X 100 rear are 283mm vented from the Jaguar XK series re drilled to 5 X 108 both have the same hub fitting.
The task at hand is to get the engine where back another 2” then body off.
