Changing thermostat on a Golf III 1.8 8V

Is this a fairly easy DIY or does it require moving any belts or pumps to access the thermostat? Any tips most welcome!

dead easy. Its on the coolant elbow on the front right of the engine as you look into the bay.

Be prepared for some coolant loss, so get some coolant additive (g40?), and make sure its cold first!!

Get a VW one - about £25 quid.
