Recently purchased a '57 plate A4 3.2 V6 quattro - really pleased with the car and performance, however just a bit disappointed so far with the radio. The radio reception is not great (background hiss and some distortion) and when I use the windscreen washer, I can hear RF interference from the wash/wipe motors. Is this a common issue with Audi radio units and, if so, route for getting this fixed?

Has it had a phone installed at some point?

Sounds like it's not earthed properly in my very limited experience. Perhaps just a loose wire.

sometimes happens when the aerial amplifier goes, you can fit an aftermarket inline joby. they cost about a tenner, plug in and need a switched powerfeed from your radio. if your not DIY competant any decent radio shop (read as "not halfords") can easily fit one and shouldn't cost more than £25 fitted
