Hi, can now join in the Audi section as I have just picked up a 2005 Audi A3 Sportback for my wife.

Its low miles at 23K and in excellent condition, but the paint is the solid Toucan yellow, (I know it not for everyone but she loves it!) and the paintwork on the plastic has faded slightly different.
I am aware that modern water based paints and colours such as yellows and reds will fade, but its 4 years are starting to show. Does anyone know if it is possible to restore the colour with T-cut etc?

If anyone has a Toucan yellow Audi or similar, would appreciate your experience.
Thanks.

"Modern" paints? My 1989 Golf Driver in "Red" was decidely pink in places by the time I sold it. Initially it would polish up and look OK for a few weeks, but this always takes a bit off and eventually you run out of paint and a respray is the only option.

I'd say don't buy a red, orange or yellow car for keeps unless you can park it in the shade most of the time.

stay WELL away from Tcut!
I would suggest having a read on good cleaning techniques. i used to just use car shampoo and turtle wax. Then on a whim bought a pile of meguairs products (not saying they are the best) but the different is night and day. Likewise a good detailler near you will be able to lift it back quite easily.

ah the old tornado pink! You would be surprised, I have seen a few of these transformed with a good machine polish.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Not as far as the paintwork yet. It has the s-line splitter and shirts kit and found the rear valance all loose. Two of the plastic brackets had snapped, repaired them with metal banding. Good as new - well twice as strong now.
