Hiya,

I'm heading off to Dublin in a couple of weeks with a few friends.. I've previously lived there (only for 3 months mind) and have been tasked with finding stuff to do! Something I'm not very good at..

Basically we arrive on a Saturday morning and go home Monday evening and will be staying at my family's place in Castleknock (not exactly in the centre of town!)

We're all 21, but not really up for the standard lash. and hopefully will have a car for the weekend..

Now all I can think of is Dublin zoo + phoenix park, explore o'connel street+grafton street+st stephens green area, maybe Guinness factory but I think we've all been there?

I've heard about a nice pub up in the tallaght hills that's supposed to be good, but can't remember the name.

Basically not after your usual drinking weekend..

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I thought Kilmainen (sp?) gaol was very good when we went the other week. Jameson distillery was interesting but very commercial and cheesy (put your hand straight up when they ask for volunteers)

Johnny Fox's. Burdock's for fish and chips. If you have a hire car do the Sally Gap. Try not to write it off, but only just.

as above jemmy is good, food is worth a go as well and i recommend trying the 18 year old jemmy ul know why when u try it (although it is exspensive)

viking tour is a good laugh too in the old amfibious(?) trucks

watch the roads around sally gap there leathel (potholes and unseen humps)

luis isnt worth a toss dont use it, it stops every 500yards

trip down to britts bay my favorite beach over there if u have a car is well wourth it for a day

kilmeinham(?) is good, guinness is ok its a bit impersonal compared to jemmy although the drink and the sky bar is wourth it

edit; ive just noticed this is the first time ive been able to post in here woohoo

The tour busses are a good deal as the ticket is good for 24 hours. Hop on hop off.

Kilmainham gaol is on the route as well as the Zoo, Guinness, Jamesons...

The museums are pretty decent as well, but closed on mondays.

Sandymount is pretty, and there's a shopping centre in Dun Laoghaire which is OK. You can also watch the ferries come in from there (not inside the shopping centre of course). I'd skip the aquatic centre in Bray -- it's pants.

That was pretty interesting too - do it when/if you go to Jamesons, just around the corner. THe chap who took us around was an absolute headcase.

Why not drive up to Belfast for the day? The road is excellent all the way there.

Take a terror tour on one of the Black Taxis or go one of the open top buses. Plenty of designer shops in the new Victoria Square.

There's either only one absolute headcase in Dublin or we were taken round by the same bloke.

Yep, just like a 1960s Florida Tourist Trap. Really lousy value. Absolute crap. Shark feeding is a joke. They are about a metre long!

I reckon we were in there for 15 mins max, which cost us over 30 quid for four people. And that was in about 2001!
