Hi anybody on here take Creatine, if so have they noticed any positive/negative effects from using it? I'm starting my loading tomorow for four days, first time for using it, heard good things but would like to hear stuff first hand from "everyday" people, not depending on a body building forum.

Thanks

I've used it on and off... TBH, getting really clued about what I'm doing in the gym has had a much bigger effect - most people in the gym look exactly the same as they did last year because they spend far too long doing isolation exercises IMO. It can make you feel ever so slightly nauseous sometimes and makes you look a little bigger and your veins stick out more.

I think it'd be worthwhile if you were really close to the limit of what is possible otherwise, although I don't think it'd do any harm to just give it a try.

Maxi-muscle cyclone, thats the stuff i use, its protien powder with creatine in it aswell, saves buying 2 tubs, costs a few quid, 40 of them infact, but IMO its worth it, also get down to holland and barret and get some vitamin c tablets, helps you absorb protien better.

I use it as powder, put into the protein shakes.
I find it helps maintain water retention in muscles, helping to bulk them out and reducing the risk of dehydration while working out (but you still need to drink plenty of water).
Stamina seems to improve by a margin and not quite so tired at the end of a workout, giving that extra 5% of strength (or it feels like that anyway)

I use it when summers coming in and it's shirt off weahter, the Maximuscle stuff, and it does give results, but not anywhere near to the point the packaging would have you believe though.

Some guys do really well on it, but the diet they follow is way to strict for me.

One thing I did notice is that it can interfere with your toilet habits, it seems to be a bad case of the runs and stomach cramps if I take to much of it.

I asked my Doctor about it some years ago, he said it shouldn't give me any problems. That was good enough for me.

A friend tried it.

He went gay, and then died. A bit.

He's now addicted to brake fluid. Reckons he can stop at any time though.

Follow a healthy diet and get down the gym ... you'll get yorself fit and look healthy. Start down the Creatine route and you'll get big muscles and look unhealthy .... IMHO ... up to you though.

Used it as directed. Bulked up muscles quickly, but after a few months screwed up my liver and kidneys for a while. I wouldn't recommend it, personally!

Better to get something that purely increases your energy, e.g. upping carbs a bit and protein a lot in your diet, and trying to work out more.

as someone with only one kidney I was always advised to stay away from any such supliment - by docotors, so that might be a good indication to a possible negative effect.

So I'm happy being an unhealthy drinking smoking under-exercising nerd now safe in the knowlege that the suppliment can do me no harm.

PS can someone ban the poster of the brakefluid joke, that was terrible!

Never mind that I had "creosote" in my head rather than creatine.

As mentioned, don't believe everything on the tub and you'll be fine. Knowing what you're actually doing in the gym is also very important.

I found that 'Cyclone' stuff to be good too.

The real benefit however is it gives you the motivation to go to the gym in the first place. If you've just spent the same amount as your monthly gym membership on a tub, you'll make yourself go even on a Monday after a crap day at work.

Any of these powders in chocolate flavour are god-awful, always go for strawberry and invest in one of those crappy little cappucino whisk thingies as the powders are a bit messy to mix.

I've used it in capsule form together with a higher protein intake. I've definitely noticed a difference, particularly in reduced recovery times which is a bonus. Been sh!tting 'stair rods' for 8 weeks though.........and, oh the wind! I'll be laying off for a while.

Creatine works, but only till you stop taking it, at which point your muscles will shrink.

Quite a useful product if you are serious about getting and staying massive.

As I have said in numerous other threads on supplements; for the average person, i.e. non serious/pro sportsman, take your diet and exercise regime seriously and you will have no need for "miracle growth" products.

Train hard and eat well. Job done.
