Ladies and Gentleman of the South Coast, our poor friend LukeBird is in need of our assistance. He recently has suffered the loss of his black Clio at the hands of some insane person who decided his/her brakes were not adequate, so they decided to use Lukes brakes as well. irked
As they say ever cloud etc... This leaves Luke able to look at purchasing a replacement vehicle. Alas insurance is a problem so it needs to be relatively friendly in that department. Let the suggestions begin....

The insurance company had better not repair my car now! hehe Although as I've said, car is heavily damaged so I don't see that being particularly likely! frown

Anyhoo, let the suggestions begin...

Oh and I'm so glad this isn't the P&P... hehe

Don't need it for commuting as I'm moving to within 3/4 miles of work.
Budget of around £6-8k ideally. I'm looking at some very nice low mileage 182's on the Classifieds at the moment around £6.5-7k. smile

Doesn't matter if it's a two seater, so I am considering an MX-5.

Over to you...

The only real limitation to any consideration is the fact I'm going to need around £1k for insurance for a Clio 182, so any bigger hot hatches, Imprezas/Evos, E55's are out... frown

ETA for insurance!

Locks Heath and yeah a hatch would be nice!
There is a choice my mum's going to end up replacing her 182 with an S3, so that could be a nice (easy) possibility; but I'd be happy to have my mind opened to other cars I haven't considered! thumbup

Fiat Coupe 20VT? Insurance might be a bit high but it's well under budget.

There is an Focus ST-2 which is right at the top of your budget:

Or if you want to stay with the hot hatch thing, a last-gen CTR in black, average miles, for 8k? cloud9

Or, there is not one on the classifieds at the moment, but what about a mint 306 Rallye in white? Your budget should get you a fantastic, last off the production line model.

Or, (you can tell it's a Friday in work), what about an Integra Type-R?

Legendary handling, decent grunt and image.

This one is 7k.

Luke, I don't know what the insurance would be like for you because it's a custom car, but this MX5 has been highly recommended by the chaps in the MX5 forum here. Apparently everything has been done to an extremely high spec, no expense spared, and the car is running a very lazy 220bhp with potential for much more.

A smidge under £6.8k.

I will stop posting now!

Luke, on the subject of insurance have you tried Adrian Flux? My friend got a quote for his Maser and the best off of any of the comparison site was £1400, called AF who quoted him £840 and he's only 27!

PM me, might have a helpful suggestion on the insurance front. I had the same problem with age!
