Looking at taking Mrs HOGEPH and self to Portugal in May. Went once many years ago. Any suggestions for somewhere with a nice beach, and not too many loudmouth gobste chavs? Nightlife unimportant, I'll take lots of books to read.

Lagos is nice and quiet, nice restaurants overlooking the bay too.

Tavira, spitting distance to Seville from there as well.

I have a contact renting out apartments in Cabanas, just down the road from Tavira.

Should come in at around 150 euros for a place in the 'Golden Club' for a week in May.

Email me if you want the details.

ETA: the beah is fabulous, although you do have to get a boat over the river to the massive sand bank that forms the Atlantic beach.

+1 or Quinta do Lago or Vale do Garrao. They are all very close to each other and in the same area on the Algarve.

This is the area to go to avoid chavs, if not posh English folk.

Hi,

Have a look at this place, we stay there often and love it, get an easy-jet into Lisbon and your sorted, loads of good cheap places to eat in the area and loads of things to see and do.
