New poster to this forum so please be gentle....
After a bit of research have just purchased a 2001 530d E39 automatic. Initial impression is very good.
However, just have a couple of quick questions.

- My journey to work is mainly a 20 mile trip on a combination of A roads and cross country, so luckily avoid town centres and traffic jams. Average MPG according to the onboard computer is around 38 which I didnt think was bad. Does this sound about right?
- Although all the wires and bracket appear to be in place, the car was sold without a CD boot loader. Is there a standard size / style / part number for this age of 5 series, as was hoping to pick pick one up from Ebay.

Many thanks.....

MPG seems excellent actually. It depends on if the reading is taken over the past 'x' miles or since the car rolled off the line. I'm not actually sure which one it is on the 5.

CD changer is pretty standard. Can pick one up off eBay used for around £100. Double check with the seller that it will go into your model for peace of mind.

Averaged over 50 mpg on the journey back home down the M1 after picking it up, but reset the computer at the start of the working week. As mentioned, manage to generally keep moving to and from work so hopeful that reasonable mpg can be achieved.

Was just curious really to see how others compared - appreciate that unless you're sat on the motorway at a constant speed mpg may not be fantastic....

Do a proper mpg check brim style.
