Hi,

My new MX5 2.0 sport will be arriving in two weeks time, and I'm stressing myself out worrying about whether to ask the dealer to fit eibachs prior to delivery, or whether I should live with the car a few months first.

I guess my main concern is the dealer mucking up such a mod and me never knowing how good the handling could/should be (not that I necessarily have any reason to question the dealer's skill).

So any opinions on whether I should just bite the bullet and get them to lower the suspension prior to delivery?

Also, does the geometry need altering after fitting eibachs, or do they just bring the car back to where it should be?

Cheers,
James.

It needs a proper Geo setup.

I say - get the car, then get WIM to retrofit the (pre-stressed!) springs and set the Geo.

I dont know if the dealers do pre-stressed springs, so the geo would need doing twice anyway.

I got the dealer to fit, incase of any warrenty issues. Then got the dealer to do the geom, then took the car to WIM and had it setup correctly

Warranty is one of those misunderstood areas - including by dealers.
If you have the springs replaced by a reputable garage like WiM they will warranty their own work. You will lose the manu warranty on the springs (big deal) but everything else will still be covered unless they can prove that a failure on any other part was caused by the spring replacement (in which case it should be covered by the garage warranty).
So if you had the springs replaced by WiM the rest of the car would still be covered by the manu warranty.

Drop Mannginger a line - he took delivery of a 2.0 Sport with the Eibacks on about 3 weeks ago.

ETA - found the thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
