The tyre monitor display light has come on on my 2006 GTI. I've checked the wheels and all tyres seem fine and pressures are spot on. I've reset the system by holding the reset button down and the light goes off.

Same thing happened about 3 weeks ago and I just checked and reset the system.

Is there anything a miss?? or do I just have a dodgy sensor that needs checking out by my local dealer?? Oh, and car is just out of warranty......serviced at VW last month.

Advice welcome for other owners smile

Maybe try swapping a wheel from the back to the front on one side of your car, as different amounts of tread can cause different rotational speeds making the car think the tyre is deflated. If it's been in for a service recently they may have been swapped around un-wittingly.

Also a missing wheel weight can sometimes cause the system to trigger.

I don't think the sensor is all that accurate as it just uses the ESP to estimate tyre pressures.

If you have gone round with an independant tyre pressure reader to each wheel and they are all OK then nothing to worry about.

but i think the main thing he is worrying about is not the tyre pressures as they are fine, but the sensor going off all the time when it shouldnt and i would think he doesnt want it to.
