Help me keep my sanity

I believe on my computer i have conflicting drivers with my CD writer. Originally i had Roxio on my computer, and then i got nero. I can no longer burn anything on my CD writer using Roxio or nero, the windows xp writer works though.
I've read about this problem on the internet and i believe i have to delete the virtual drive that nero creates. However, i have found this to be easier said than done. I have tried going through the control panel add/remove programs and selected the drive and it doesn't let me remove it. I have un-installed nero. I have gone to device manager and uninstalled all my drivers on my computer, only to find them come back on restart. I have turned off system restore and tried this as well. I have even gone into the registry and done a search for nero, imagedrive and ahead. I've deleted some of the keys, but some of the others keys won't actually delete.
I'm so near to destroying PC
