MDP? They don't really use unmarked cars much, and they have very few traffic officers - the ones they do have only enforce traffic regs on the base. As police officers, they DO have a duty of care to the public so I suppose if they felt you posed a danger to the public, they could pull you over. But that would be much more likely if they were in one of the marked rangers or focuses. The local constabularies don't generally appreciate them treading on their toes like that wink

I live with one, so I have to listen to him whining about how he can never do anything all the time wink

I should also add that if something was flagged up on their ANPR van, they might give it a tug but they don't watch for much. Don't forget, their primary role is anti-terrorism, not traffic enforcement.

Yeah, the SEG base out of Aldermaston and Burghfield, but they aren't usually tooled up, they ALWAYS are wink

Plus unless things have changed there's usually Royal Marines along for the ride too, and a QRF on standby.

Exactly right - they quickly respond to incidents... IE if the convoy were attacked, the QRF would head over in their helicopters incase the local assets weren't able to deal with the problem. And of course I presume local police and army assets would also be requested though I'm not sure, I've never botehred looking into it that far tongue out

But no need to worry, our nuclear assets are well protected biggrin

The army use apaches, not the marines mate wink

Besides which, last I heard the ones in the UK are only here because they're gradually being dismantled to provide spares for the 12 or however many it is now in Afghan.

Besides, I'm not sure you'd really want 30mm cannons, rockets, and hellfires going off next to nukes would you wink Obviously they wouldn't go off, but you'd probably end up scattering radioactive debris across a decent chunk of countryside and the greenies (and residents) no doubt wouldn't appreciate it tongue out
