30 months and the battery gave up, wouldn't hold a charge overnight.
Nearest dealer in Aberdeen is a 300 mile round trip. Asked my friendly local Vauxhall dealer in Dumbarton if they could get me a warranty replacement. Vauxhall Tech person agreed on the phone that my local dealer could replace the battery.

However, I quoted this forums' battery part number 93165357 62 amps but was told this was obsolete, due to a change in Vauxhall's battery supplier. New part number 93189923 65amps was delivered nearly a week later. Tried to get it into my CV8 but far too long for the battery tray, clamp wouldn't fit and forcing the + cable against the engine. Checked with Aberdeen who immediately gave me the correct part number 19003129 55amps (Vauxhall say 55 amps is sufficient). This battery is a common fit for many models and in-stock at your local dealer.

Can we get part number 19003129 added to the FAQ's?

On a slightly different note but battery related, how long can you leave a Roo with the alarm on without making the battery flat ?? Going on holiday for 3 weeks shortly.

I know it will depend on the health of your battery and how regulary you use your car but will 3 weeks be OK ? It will have a 150 mile round trip just before its left.

With a decent battery it should be fine to leave the car longer than 3 weeks. Mine regulary goes 2 weeks with no use and its fine. A new battery was fitted early last year mind.

Mine is an '05 VXR on original battery and quite often gets left for around 3 weeks, although a little weak it still starts with no problems.

There's an email address in the FAQs for that.

Dear All,

changed mine while the GP was suspended:
Varta Silver

Longer than the existing one so couldn't use the foam blanket wrap (?) thingy but the new battery sat OK on the battery tray and clamped fine,

regards,
Jet

I tried to email in the FAQ's and came up against a screen asking me something computer/technical about what type of email system I was sending to/from. Not got a clue about that!

Tried again today on another PC, avoiding the techy questions and seems to have gone through OK.

My Vauxhall battery replacement is free, under warranty. Halfords equivalents are a few pennies under £100.

Dare i say it but i went to Halfords and asked them and its not even on there system not that the 16 year old stopped idiot behind the counter new what the car was after explaining it was not a van.....

popped into my local car parts place where i am know all to well and give him the challenge and low and be hold 5 mins later i had a new battery paid for and in my hands for £75 smile. its a little longer than the VX one but fits perfectly and claps down well. smile

question to everyone. what's the amperage of the stand VX battery for a CV8 Ro? as the new ones 700Amps , but the old one its badly marked and looks like 65amps!!!!

I don't know all the techy spec systems for batteries but what you've found is 65 amp/hours compared to 700 amps.
Look at jetnoise link to Varta in his post above and you'll see under specifications the 2 differing types of values for a given battery ie a/h and amps.

I think the Monaro spec used to be 62 a/h but is now obsolete and replaced with 55 a/h.

my battery went last year out of warranty, took values from top of old one - went round to local motor store - 200yds away, handed over 60 quid and got a battery with higher rating and 5 year warranty. No issues with fitting sizes - mind you I did actually take the approx sizes from the battery with a tape measure to make sure I got the right one before carrying it back home lol.

After a good run my battery will last for about 10 days with the alarm on. It doesn't go flat but the alarm starts to go off due to it being low on charge. My battery is two years old.

My VZ CV8 battery decided to inexplicably die this past weekend - the little green dot was very black.

Underwoods of Colchester is my nearest franchised service dealer as the battery was still in warranty.

After explaining that my car was not a commercial vehicle (!) I took the car in today - the battery was dead flat and I had to have a jump start.

Full specifications of the new GM battery fitted are -
part number - 19003129
capacity - 55 Ah
cold cranking amps - 225 amps (DIN), 510 amps (EN)
retail price quoted - £55.91 inc (although it was replaced under warranty)

As noted above, it's slightly bigger than the original - the foam jacket was discarded.

Also, when I collected the car, I was told they had carried out the "seat spring campaign" (dealer speak for recall) mod. I'm not sure what this entailed as they wouldn't provide much detail.

Both front seats get a light-weight coil spring fitted to act as an improved earth to prevent the very remote possibility of the side airbag, stored in the upright side of the seat (draws deep breath!) from deploying due to static electricity.

They're a spring to allow the vertical adjustment of the seat.

Finally had to replace the original Vauxhall battery on the 04 CV8 today - 7.5 years old - Oh well, guess its had a good innings!

Still able to start the engine after a day or 2 of not being used, but after a week or more, it was getting to the stage it could make nothing of it.

If I can get another 7.5 years out of the new battery, I'll be quite happy!

On my second battery, car is now 8 years old to the day. The green dot disappeared on both batteries after a year or so, but I've kept the car on a trickle charger and it's always started fine. Has a tracker fitted and I think it drains the battery causing the green dot to go black after a while. Only issue I had when replacing the battery was the cheap terminal clamps bending and not compressing up properly on the batt posts. I replaced them with some decent HGV solid copper ones.
