its not an NA, its a 1.8T see the OP.
Remaps arent entirely about power, i had a 150 1.8T remapped and the power increase was good, the real difference was the increase in torque and much earlier in the range, mad the car a lot more drivable. put it this way even if the power stayed the same and the curve took the power in much earlier it would improve significantly. Plus if you trundle that extra torque earlier helps for quicker changes and does genuinely improve the economy.
However look around on the 1.8T there are two generations if you like the 150,180 and 190 then the 210, 225 and 240s are fairly different in setup, i am guessing the 190 1.8T will already have a fairly aggressive map on it, perhaps be running a K03 turbo and not the K04 or K03s which can take a bit more juice. An FMIC intercooler setup may also help.
Only things i found on my remap was the upgrading of the N75 for an N75J which smooths out the boost better. And using a TT recirc valve again these handle the increases much better than the standard setup.
I raised the research question as one name mentioned (not repeating) did set alarm bells going. But it is worth doing the research.

a very comprehensive breakdown.
My only advice to anyone considering a remap on any car, make sure its in 100% working order FIRST. As the additional increases will bring on any failing/ failed components very quickly.

Would recommend quattronics which are near Lincoln just off A1 - again not in your area but you'd enjoy the drive back
I can think of a loaaaad of people who wouldnt reccommend them as well!!There was a dyno day feature in last months Audi Driver mag (the issue with the white R8 on the cover),that had several stories with owners feedback with before and after figures with some 1.8T's I believe, I'll dig it out later.

If you look at my post I quoted someone else other than the OP, he said he has been quoted a 10bhp increase on a 1.8 A4, he doesnt say whether its a turbo or not, hence me asking the question...Remaps arent entirely about power, i had a 150 1.8T remapped and the power increase was good, the real difference was the increase in torque and much earlier in the range, mad the car a lot more drivable. put it this way even if the power stayed the same and the curve took the power in much earlier it would improve significantly. sorry Matt, I missed the random addition in there, in which case your right.
NA engine being remapped, IF you have exhausted a lot of other avenues which are better for value for money then go for it. But otherwise on an NA engine its not really going to give you much of a noticeable gain for the relative cost. Generally speaking its only big BHP NA engines which will see a remap for usually unlocking the rev limiter or de-restricting it.
