Right, there has been a pain to the right of my spine (facing forwards) and about 4 inches above my right kidney all day. Right at the back. Didn't notice it first thing. But it really hurts when I move. Painless when I'm still.

Bascially do I just need to drop some ibuprofen and man up or is there anything else I should get checked out in that area?

Try stretching your back out over the next day or two.
Tonight when you get home, lie on your bed facing the ceiling, then hang backwards off the side of the bed. The end of the bed should line up with the pain in your back, then just lean back till your head touches the deck.
Sounds like some weird sex position but it does work, should stretch any sore muscles and pull your spine a bit.
If its still bad in a few days time, go to your GP.

I have a bad back from a car crash, went to doctors, told me to go to physio, nothing but stretches that you can do really.
I had accupuncture, did sweet fk all, just keep stretching, i was told after about 5/6 month if it's not getting any better go back and see the doctor again.

Also adjust your posture so your not sloutching (sp?)
