I've been thinking a bit about getting a stainless/brushed ally dash, and now the Chim has dumped a load of screen wash on my tootsies I thought I may as well do something about it (I believe fixing the problem involves removing the dash ).

I think I want a plain finish (not the checkerboard that Leven advertise) but might go for some other pattern.

Who should I talk to?

Leven do a brushed matt aluminium one too, which is very nice. I can't decide between the checkered one and the plain one!

Phone Leven and talk to them, they're the most helpful people ever, and maybe they have other metals they could use, and do a one off for you.

Talk to the factory. I always wanted the basketweave one on my Chim.

There was someone advertising a variety of dashboards in the classifieds - TVR REPLACEMENT DASH SETS - who I emailed but never received a reply so don't know who they are or the quality of their kit. £115 for the dash seems ok though if the stuff is ok. I think the advert will still be there. Anyone used them?

Mine is the 'basketweave' style - it's probably the best at not blinding you when there's a low sun behind you.

Always knew you were a basketcase, Simpo.

PS You were telling us just last week that you were a big fan of wood veneer - split personality - Simpo One/Simpo Two?

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I do indeed prefer wood veneer, but my car happened to be fitted from new with the ally dash you see above (I'm the second owner). I was about to replace the offending dash with a figured ash one when people started saying how much they liked it and how it went with the car (which is also silver). So I left it as it has left the factory.

I hope that solves your mental torture JIgs but do let me know if there's anything you still don't understand.

Simpo - with that colour scheme it's crying out for a dark Brazilian Rosewood veneer dash IMO.

Simpo two,

Don't replace the dash...........!!

Strangely there's a car almost identical to mine but with a dark walnut dash (Seasider's). It does look nice, but then the urge to keep mine original took over (plus the thought of all the aggro involved to change), and as I'm used to the ally now it's quite acceptable.

Trev, thankyou and yes the dials do look a bit off don't they? It's not so noticeable in reality: I'll try to give them a twist next time. Meanwhile you'll have to live with 99% purfect!

I've received replies from that one (no sign of any business account though) and am waiting on a sample.
