Headlight change A6 Avant (2006)

I would like to add some after market headlight units with projector lenses to my newly acquired A6 Avant. Does anyone have knowledge of how to replace headlight units - in particular, would I need to remove the front bumper, as this would certainly put me off the swap?

It can be done without removing the bumper , they managed on mine , but the mechanic admitted it would still have been easier if he had removed it Not an easy job

Hmm, that's what I thought - did the mechanic detail why it was difficult. I'm fairly handy with spanners and don't mind a few skinned knuckles...

Id like to see this guy who did it without taking the bumper off. Theres 3 screws which hold the light in place, all directly behind the front bumper. Only takes 10-15 mins to take the bumper off though.

Thanks for that - can you give me any details on the easy way to get the bumper off, best way to attack it etc? Best to do this when the wife's out shopping - she'll have a fit if she sees me taking our new family bus apart!

ETA - I see you're in South Yorks - and I suspect an Audi technician? Are you Sheffield based? (Can you see what's coming)
