I posted last week about my heater blower problems and have since updated it with a question about how I get to it.
I have ascertained it is behind the vents in front of the gear lever on top of the tunnel, but am wondering if it is a dash-off jobbie best left to the experts.

For the first time in my PHeads life nobody has given me any feedback. And before you all say look in The Bible - I appear to have temporarily mislaid it.

TIA

Hi Mark,

I posted that my '93 Chimaera's Blower was left of the battery in the wing - can't believe TVR moved it to where you now say it is on '96 models ??? From my '93 model there's no room forward of gear lever area as bulkhead starts well back to clear rear of engine ????

Even SHPub said it was in the left hand front wing - that I can believe as it would not be too far from where it is on '93 models.

What's wrong anyway - Don't "blow" or makes a noise or what ??

Mine is a 96 and its on the left near the battery as well, Pretty sure it can not be behind the vents as there is not enough room!!

Well, chaps, thanks.
Someone else here said it had moved to my location and I phoned the garage and they too confirm this.

The problem is, I think the fan has seized as when I turn the blower knob it blows the fuse and takes out the fuel guage, oil pressure guage and makes the alternator charge light come on.

Don't trust Steve Heath, he says the rear lights are upside down fiesta units and they are not I can prove it.

Okay then they're upside down back to front Fiesta tail-lights!

Excuse me stating the obvious....

Heater & Fan are separate. Heater (matrix) is where you are claiming - fan (blower) is just where everyone has told you.

God I get more confused by the minute!

I think I'll take it to the garage, they clearly said the (fan) blower was moved around 1996. Oh why can't the summer be here

Stop pouncing about, and get it up to Fernies!

They'll sort it out and the drive will clear your head. OH

And my bank account. Brian says 3 - 5 hours, and that's before they do the clutch master cylinder. I'm trying to do some of the jobs myself now.

But I have a bad feeling about this one.

Mark,

are you sure its the fan, when I got my chim 6 mths ago the fan/heater blower didn't work, it turned out to be a melted wire coming out of the heater ecu which is under the dash. I was quoted oodles for a new one so I lifted the dash traced the wire/ribbon cable from the fan switch to the ecu, a small black box. I removed the box and found a burnt terminal, I simply spliced in a new wire cut out the melted bit and solderes the end directly on to the ecu PCB bypassing the terminal. End result, fan started working and has done ever since. (touch wood).

OUCH!
Master cylinder under warranty? Just had mine done.

When your getting it done, could you not just get Brian to point you in the right direction regarding the blower?

Not under warranty Al, decided against one this year for the prices they were quoting, although after talking to you on the phone the other week, I might just try them direct.

I will get Brian to show me roughly where, and then assess the situation.

Al...it's just not fair You're sooo lucky getting all this stuff done under warranty. When I asked my warranty company rep if he could do anything to help me out, all I got was a biz card with his mobile phone no.

The only date I'm in need of is one to fit A NEW GEARBOX...

Lucky so far, OOOOOH Had a tot up at Fernies £1100 last year!
At this rate in a years time, the Chim will be newer than when I brought it!

Sounds as though the Rep wasn't much good at selling warranty, but he has got a good eye for a pretty lady, so he can't be all bad.

Gearbox! sounds like a warranty job?

My thoughts exactly, Al. However, by the time I get the all clear to get a gearbox fitted under warranty, I'll have gone up a dress size with all these "free" dinners. The things a girl has to do!

Have you shown the Waranty Rep your box yet, explained the problems with it and let him try it for himself. Surely that would swing it? Seeing is believing.
