What about James Whiting here http://www.jameswhiting.com/index.html

Heard lots of good things about him. Not too far from you either.

Hi Dave

Never used them myself, however they actually built the Superlight I now own. I am the 2nd owner, and it's a W reg, 19k miles of which I have done 1k.

I have an extensive file of reciepts from them, and they serviced the oil every 3k miles, as well as doing upgrades, servicing etc etc. He was a fastidious owner, and it seems they kept him more than happy!!

Let me know if you go with them, as I would love to know some more about them/my car.

Cheers

I used them years ago when I lived in North London and have no complaints about the service I received.

Probably worth a trip up the M11 to Bishops Stortford to Fauldsport (40-45 miles from W London). They run lots of racecars and will be more adept at setting geo for specific handling traits.

Also try Hyperion.

Thanks guys.

I was thinking about Hyperion as one of the guys who used to be from there helped me with loads of comments when I bought the car as it was my first Caterham. But their website seems to have vanished so I was unsure where they are and if they are still running?

I'll look into the other garage you mention as it is just a track car so set up is key.

I also met guys from Tech 7 (?) at the Caterham club day recently where they show you how to maintain your car at home - any thoughts?

I think you'll find Fauldsport have moved t'up north, stoke rings a bell. Stuart will probably confirm that himself. Either them (not that close if I am correct) or Spy Motorsport in Henley who I use. FS or Spy would be who I would recommend.

Spy do my race car.

Thanks for the comments on SPY, that could be handy as my mum lives there so I can pop in and see her while it is done!!

Hyperion - RIP. Faulds has indeed moved up north. I'd recommend Team Parker myself, worth travelling for good people. Also do note that Caterham Cars are doing Geo and flat flooring and I wouldn't discount them - Chris who is responsible for their press "fleet" knows what he is doing; check out the upcoming Track and Racecars issue (out next Thursday IIRC) for an article on the work Chris did on the R300 at Brands in March.

Gary May is good too - Freestyle - but is so busy at the moment. I haven't been to Ratrace since Mark Oliver left...when I did last visit them there were a lot of new faces there though....

no worries. Pretty pleased with my R300 setup, got me pole on Saturday and 2 x second places and a fastest lap. Although was pipped by a fauldsport car....

Hyperion - RIP.

Really? That is sad!

On a note, a freind of mine had his R500 done by Chris W at Caterham and he is very happy with it. He said it is based on the set up used by Faulds for the R500 they used to set the Top Gear lap with.

Choices choices!! I need it checked over before I hit the track this season so I'd be keen to hang around while they did it so I could get some tips on what to check before trackdays etc!

All good tips guys!

Fauldpsport are second to none.....literally, 2008 RSA team champions, never off the RSA podium in the last 8 or so races, leaders of the R300 team champs, first official R300 race winners.......it goes on and on.

www.fauldsport.co.uk

"pipped by a fauldsport car.....LOL", You know the only reason you got Pole and that your fastest lap came from a tow from that number 33 car......who is that again??

You managed to get back into a work frame of mind yet??

ah, it was only a matter of time before you showed up. Yes am back in a work frame of mind, got a shed load to get through although I am planning on living at oulton in May. As its your second home think I may need too.

Actually, didn't get a tow, Mr M gave me a rollocking for not towing enough. (not joking either!) Least thats an easy thing to fix. Still smiling from the weekend?

The reason I got pole was I didn't park it in the gravel trap. Was difficult to tow you from there.... wink

oh ffs James, you live there anyway. give it a rest wink

Jonny, hope your out again.

Anyway, so to conclude on I think the racers here are in agreement that either spy or fs are good choices to setup/service.

Lovely.........

Excellent tips! I think on the basis that I have no screen, no wet weather gear....I'll stay local and give SPY a shout later today. I assume they do none race cars? Mine must be an old barge compared to all yours. I must admit, I do like the paintjobs on the race cars! Thanks again guys!

Hyperion have gone bust!

Fauldsport are now in Stafford so they cater well for the northerners and midlands crew.

If your in the south then look no further than Taylors Foundry Motorsport.

2008 Superlight Team and Driver Champions.

Competitive rates, first class service and no bullst!
