My S3 has just failed its mot on the henious crime of having no warning light for the rear fogs. The trouble is, the car isn't fitted with one! (not one that I can find anyway). It's an early S3 with the three non-illuminated rotary switches on the centre console. There doesn't seem to be a symbol for it on the warning cluster on the dash either. The testing centre says its a legal requirement for any car post 1980 so its a mistery how its passed its last 7 mot's! Any help gratefully received.

That's an odd one. I don't think my Cerbera has one either but it was never checked at my last MOT. Just an exterior fog light on, fog light off check. Did you do your MOT with messers Wrekit Bodgit and Runn per-chance????

The Griffith doesn't have a warning light - they are switched by the third black button along on the row of light switches. (unless I'm blind that is - but then I don't use my rear fog lights unless it's foggy, which isn't that often) Rich...

Sounds like a typical MOT tester who doesn't like TVR's, I had an S1 I was getting an MOT on for a customer and he made the mistake of previously taking the car to a small MOT place, big mistake! they picked the car to pieces even going as far as saying the chassis was shot because the powder coating was peeling off!.It was only when I went in there and basically explained nearly everything to him in great detail that he passed it.Back to the point the S1 and S2 have an orange warning light for the rear fog and on the later cars with the classic dash the fog lamp warning light is on the bottom right of light panel

oops it would appear that this is the full beam warning light.I have just checked all my handbooks (S1 through to V8S) and they only state the S1 and S2 have the fog warning light.I have also just checked the V8S dash I have in my living room (don't ask!!!!!) and this is the same.Bit of a mystery!

It seems that the S1/2 had the warning light in the curved display to the left of the steering column and the S3 had the illuminated rocker switch with the warning light built in. As mine is an early S3 (with S2 type switchgear) it has neither! Edited by s3 bob on Monday 29th January 23:20

My car has a redundant led fitted under the column from a previous alarm so I wired that up from the back of the rotary switch. A bit heath-robinson but I didnt have to drill any new holes and it kept the mot tester happy. My switch did have two wires from it suggesting that it was wired for an indication but too difficult to trace where it goes to! I suppose if thats the worst they can find on a ten year old car then I should be happy.

My S3 has an LED mounted just above the left hand rotary switch which indicates when the fog light is on. It's always been there so I don't know if it is a standard fitting or an addition. Steve.

My S3 has a fog warning light on the little dash in the top left just above the lights warning light and to the left of the indicator warning light. The main beam warning light is in the bottom right. -- Mark
