Anyone used this and care to comment?

Wanted something basic/cheap to pick up
  • static
  • van parked on bridge
  • chap at side of road
Not sure the S2 does all of these? Have a TomTom910 that I seldom use - may use this for static cameras?

About to purchase a Parrot kit and if anyone uses this, please feel free to comment. My main use will be with a BlackBerry Pearl/8100.

OK I use a snooper and
It will advise you of fixed locations, common locations and black spots

It will dtect a lazer when it hits the car, BUT this is normally way too late as the officer will have a reading on your speed. so any indiscression will be recorded.

This is why the garage door opemers/jammers became used as these can interferre with the signal and give you chance to check your speed, in conjunction with the snooper that should tell you the limit this ias a great set of tools. Bare in mind that interfering with a police signal is a crime in its self.

As to the parrot generally great, good piece of kit.

Thanks SL - excuse my naivety, with respect to laser.....if it hits a car in front or other solid object, will you get a signal on the Snooper due to "bounce/dispersion"?

Assuming that if you are in an exposed place, the laser gun will have you at it's mercy! Unless you employ some form of jammer, which we law abiders would never dream of.

Toying with the garage opener (Laser Star) but at £300 it seems a bit stiff.

You may pick up a refraction but in 4 years of using it I almost never have. One of the few tines it did I got 3+60.

I have spoken to the police and done some tests on this afew times and would not rely on the Snooper for more than a notification to check the post for 14days. Dont get me wrong I only have the snooper currently and its a great piece of kit.

I would recomend the snooper but for laser protection a jammer is it.

Jammer is a costly piece of kit 500-1200 USD.

This is what I found on the web:
The vast majority of the time police LIDAR is shot at approaching vehicles. Front targeting gives the officer more time to target the vehicle and allows him to simply pull out behind the vehicle as it passes by. Targeting from the rear is done, but is quite rare on average across the country. We recommend focusing your efforts on the front of the vehicle, as you can always add units to the rear later.

A Laser Diffuser acquires a laser gun or laser van, it immediately returns a five second signal, gives the driver a visual warning, and emits an audible alert in the vehicle.

For this time, the laser gun’s display will not produce a speed reading, leaving enough time for the driver to check, and if necessary adjust, vehicle speed safely.

After five seconds, the laser diode shuts down, and the diffuser acts as a passive detector for the next 60 seconds while you clear the laser speed trap.
