Well my decision to replace my wheels on my car may well be shelved as i am thinking about just getting a new car for the summer instead.

May have a buyer for mine so here is the criteria for a replacement.

£14k or less
Under 50,000miles
Not completely impractical as it is a daily driver

Suggestions . . . . . . . .

I would suggest a VX220T/ Elise but I think you would find them a pain in the arse to be getting in and out of on a daily basis.

The only think I can think of that immediately fits the brief and won't be too high on running costs- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/990972.htm

The other ideas:

If you're feeling brave- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/983516.htm
Monster with 4 seats- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/874470.htm
This + a run around- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/989334.htm

3 Prongs fresh- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/968328.htm
964- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/893737.htm
old skool cool- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/690141.htm
Not my cuppa but...- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/989818.htm
Had to share this find- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/994918.htm

And remember- go big or go home!!

Thats all got me thinking DC.

I do like the V6 Clio, big fat and in your face.

Dont want a TVR.

Would love a Porker of some description, probably a 968 but am a tad scared of the running costs.

The CLK look interesting.

What ever i decide on even if its to keep the Scoob, i think a Welsh weekend would be the way forwards.

Hadn't thought of 968- good call. Gotta be a Club Sport really but they seem to command quite high prices. Couple of nice ones:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/971533.htm
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/835385.htm

Second one has the pics taken at the guest house we stayed at at the Ring so if he says its never been on track he's a big fat liar ;-)

Neil- Focus RS is a good shout. I quite like them but no sure if I could own one. Supposedly they are all a bit touch and go so test driving is essential to find a good 'un. Not sure I could live with a Ford badge though (1. I live in Winchester, I'm allowed to be a snob 2. Yes, I know I drive a Vauxhall...)!

Also, never been sure of these personally, but sure to make a fantastic noise- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/983943.htm

Another more sensible option, colour is not to everyone's taste, but meant to be a great fast road car and baby got back!! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/985770.htm

How about one of these or is it too similar to the scooby?

If you want something a touch loopy one of these
or one of [urlthese|http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/994684.htm[/url] a bit more practical!

My friend has just bought one of these, well the 3200GT and he had a quote for a Cam belt from a local specialist. I was bloody shocked!
£400 fitted
Fuel costs are another matter though hehe
Avoid the sequential gear box models like the plague they eat clutches for breakfast!

Thats cheap.

4200 doesnt have a cam belt, it has chains. It's engine out to replace them, you can only imagine how much that would cost!

Went to buy a new windscreen from a Seven owner the other day. He said that his previous car was was a 3200GT. He mentioned that he was allowed to buy it by the Wife as he would only have it for a year, after that the running costs would get too much year in year out and it would be sold.

He had had it for a year and they were surprised that the running costs had been minimal. With this in mind they kept it on for a second year. The second year the car needed a lot of work, costs mounted and it went sharpish.

UPDATE

The Scoob is sold and going on Wednesday afternoon. Still not bought a new car yet so probably going to be hacking about in a mates spare Polo 1.0 for a few weeks which will be fun . . . . . not!

I have been out today with Mr D and test driven a car which i am quite taken with. Nothing like the scoob but i like it. The bloke at the dealership is looking into getting me another one brought down from another dealer which has better spec, lower mileage and is cheaper. I think that may be the one i go for.

I wont say what it is yet, but its pretty capable and i should still be able to keep up with some of you lot!!

Should know by tommorrow for definite.
