Do people do this to avoid nosey neighbours and ex-wives knowing how much their house is on the market for or how much they about to inherit?

Anyway, I have seen a place I like which is 'POA'. Zoopla tells me that based on the purchase price of X when it was last sold in 2000/2001 and property price increases in the area since, that it is now worth about X+80%.

When I search on the agent's web site it sorts the houses by price. On most web sites they usually POAs top or bottom of the list. Oddly, on this site although it comes up as 'POA', in the ascending price listing it slots neatly between houses costing a few thousand more and less, exactly where Zoopla says it will. Looking at other POA houses on the site they seem to be slotteded in with houses in the same ball park price.

Am I right to assume that somewhere in the databse the price is listed and it is positioning the house in the right place/price or some sort of random placing. I hope so!

I will call the agent Monday but was just wondering????

I think you're right in assuming that RightMove has a price against those listed with POA. I've been looking for some time now and POA properties nearly always appear neatly slotted between comparable priced properties. I inquired on one, and the price was spot-on with regard to RightMoves price location.

Thinking about it, it would make no commercial sense to put the POA properties separately. The point to sites like that is that you can view a particular segment of the market. Therefore I would say that the POA price would just be hidden but would rank in the searches.

It's what idiots write. I wish people would cut the crap like POA. I've seen the arguments. And I'd be annoyed if my estate agent put POA as a lot of potential buyers would just not bother to "apply".

It does make me shy away and feel a bit inferior (perhaps that is what they want?). Just like posh shops which don't display the prices in a 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' type of way. They must lose so much business because people ae intimidated to ask. I have lost count of the number of times I have been sent into jewellery shops by Mrs B&B to get prices. In fact she is a keen buyer and they are just puting her off because I am sure she would buy sooner if she could compare prices without having to badger me to go in and feign interest.

Good news of the POA for houses, as this could be a goer if it is indeed where Zoopla say.

Yep! I just don't bother with those cars/watches/whatever and look at those with the prices, which can be more expensive at other dealers who do put the price! Guess who gets my business?
