Hi All, Just thought I`d report on the mods on the coupe. After the removal of seats, carpets and anything inside that could be easily removed and fitting of buckets. I have lowered the car with H&R springs to drop 30mm. This is less than that in reality as it rose up about 15mm after the interior removal. Went to a Javelin trackday at Elvington, on 18 April, to test the mods and I am very happy with the result. It was good before on track, but it is even better now. It is my poor man`s CLK DTM AMG!

That's great to hear. I had remembered that you were doing the track day on the 18th as well!

How were your brakes with the ducting?

Do post some pics of the car in its new state. bounce

I haven't done any more to my car but am changing the wheels tomorrow for Mandrus regenmeisters.

Hi Pete, The brakes were OK as I never like to stay out for more than 7 laps at a time as they will get hot even with a bit of ducting and less car mass. I am running on standard pads (with racing fluid) and they seem to do the job.
What`s these wheels you are on about? I can`t even pronounce the name, so they must be fantastic!!! I thought you had gone back to 18" from 19". On track I find the 18" wheels fine, but I have not tried 19" on this car yet. I will be sticking with 18" standard rims and keep acquiring spare rims and tyres as and when they come up for sale. This way it makes it quite affordable for track days. I will try and post some pics, but I am thick and not sure how!
All the best, Jon

7 laps Jon! I can manage 5 - at a stretch - at Bedford so the ducting must be doing some good.

Here are the wheels -

Hi Pete, Those wheels actually look quite good.
Talking of brakes, are you on racing fluid?
BTW was the better half doing the watering OK?

1) Go to a site like photbucket and sign up for the free version http://s164.photobucket.com/

2) Upload any pics you want to put in a post to photobucket - just follow the sites instructions

3) then you will see when you hover your mosue over each picture a list of optioins on how to link it to a site

4) choose the "Direct Link" by right clicking your mouse and copying the line of code

5) in your pictonheads post paste the line of cade and add the following

6) in front of the line of code put write [pic] and at the end put [/pic] include the brackets just as I have written it here.

7) submit your post!

or email them to me and I will post them for you smile

Thanks for the help Pete. I will probably take up your latter option to keep my sanity, of what little is left! I will be getting some on track photos soon from the trackday, but meantime I will get some statics taken and send them to you.
I am just debating whether to get the LSD done next as I also need some more tyres. I have two spare rear rims and need some 255 35 18 tyres.
Also, I need to sell cheaply, all of this interior that is in the garage, so I can put the car away.

I thought a guy from MBclub UK was going to buy the interior (I put him onto you from their forum)? Did he make contact?confused

It's definatly worth posting on that site or good old fleebay

The trouble with our cars is you are always going to need rear tyres! Could you get any part worns from your local supplier? idea

I'm pretty content with my car now - I'm not planning to do much else apart from drive.

Pete

Hi Peter, Thanks for posting the photos.
We will be out for a thrash on Sat 30th May at Blyton, near Gainsborough. It is cheap and chearful, but user friendly for beginners with little traffic. If anyone wants to bring their car, it`s only 45 pounds. Hoping to get to other tracks later in the year. What have you got planned?

No track days planned - some trips to Wales and the highlands are in the current thinking for this year. That's all really. thumbup

Sounds good. Have had some wonderful drives in Perthshire over the last few years. Out of season! I mean in the winter, best time up there, as the weather can be very mild, then minus 500 Celcius the following day. Keeps you on your toes, till they drop off.
