Hi
I have 2002 A4 TDI. There is 132k on clock. Do the front suspension links give trouble as I am getting funny cracking noises from the front wheels at times. It is not cv joint or bearings as I had these changed recently. I am refering to track control links upper and lower and possibly track control rod ends.
It is beginning to get really annoying and affecting handling of car.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Granto

I've got a '99 A6 TDi which I bought with the front suspension knocking at 140k miles. After speaking to my mechanic, he mentioned a few of the links were shot and the rest were showing a fair bit of wear. He reckoned it would be worthile replacing all the links on both sides.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are 5 links on each side. You can buy them individually or as a pack (both sides) as well. I think the A4 might even be the same parts (again someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Anyway, the difference was unbelievable and the car has been very smooth in the 30k miles I've clocked up since. If you are keeping the car for a while it's probably worth doing them all at the same time.
I've read plenty of articles mentioning this suspension link replacement so they seem to be prone to wear.
You might be lucky though and get away with replacing one to keep the cost down so good luck.

Yes - normal for these to be worn at that sort of mileage and as above - replacing the whole lot is a good plan if you're in it for the long haul.

Thanks
I have already replaced 2 bottom links on passenger side and 1 on drivers side , but still having problems. I think I will go ahead and replace all of them now.

Get the complete kit from german ebay. Check the manufacturer before you buy.

Thanks for help.
What manufacture would you recommend. Did you get this kit here before. Do they charge much for delivery.

Cheers.
