Hardly worth bothering these days, is it?

It was a nice site, but it wasn't really a Grand Design, unless you happen to be a lighting designer or a furniture retailer. The punter clearly had a taste for the exotic, viz the wife, and that may explain the abundance of pink twinkling lights. Interior standard 'IKEA' brochure white minimalist open plan, Yawn. Fish tanks are for aspiring Bond villains. I don't see it.

Nice to see Kevin getting back into his stride though.

Was this the episode I watched last night where he builds a house overlooking the loch? If so it was a revisit, but in typical grand designs format only the last 3 minutes of the programme contained any new footage.

I didn't think it was a particularly groundbreaking design, but did showcase that hiring the right team of professionals and taking your time produces quality results - compare the build to most grand designs builds, the chap encountered no problems whatsoever, so much so that Kevin had to resort to mentioning the chaps health constantly to inject some drama into the show.

yes I'm constantly on the lookout for a new underground lair, preferably in a hollow volcano.

Most of them were blown up in the 1970's frown

You may find it easier just to settle for one of these:
