Hi
I have a 2005 roadsport (1600cc k-series) with standard caterham speedo. I have been out today and it stopped working. I have checked the connection to the back of the speedo (as well as taken it off and re connected) with no luck. I know the other end connects to the gear box but have no idea where this connection is or how i can check it. I have been told conflicting info of where this can be checked. So far i have been told Under car, from the engine bay as well as within the centre console. I have checked the build manual i have but it has no pics or diagrams and is very vague!
Any help gratefully recieved!

Behind the engine, under the transmission tunnel at the back of the gearbox, there's where the speedo cable terminates in an angle drive which screws onto the side of the gearbox output. You get to it by jacking the car up and squirming under. Useful to have a headtorch on. There's an inch-long square-profile pin that connects the angle drive to the gearbox - this snaps sometimes (twice for me so far). You unscrew the angle drive and can pull the pin out for replacement.

Thanks ewenm. Will I be able to see this when looking underneath or are there any panels etc that need to be removed first?
Is there anything else I can do/check before getting underneath?

Should be able to see the connection without removing any panels.

Other things to check? Erm dunno... it's a pretty simple system so not much to go wrong, assuming the cable hasn't snapped anywhere.

Mine siezed and snapped as well, 1.6 K Series Superlight. Snapped on the way home from Caterham after picking it up.

As it is a fiddly job, the guys at Caterham simply drilled through the centre tunnel oppositie the gearbox (from the drivers side) and went in from there, and covered the hole with a plastic gromet thingy.

Cheers
