Continueing from brake pedal adjustment one of the niggles I have is the length of pedal travel on the accellerator. For me, it's not sharp enough, doesn't react quickly enough. Via SELOC been looking at one of these...

http://www.excite-webtl.jp/world/english/web/?wb_u...

Go to page 3, first item. Short stroke accelerator linkage.

Anyone come across one of these before?

Do you think it would help or is there something better around? (for cable throttle cars)

I would suggest there are easier ways, move the pedal stops for example.

Any more info? I can see how moving the pedal stops shortens the pedals travel but surely this then restricts the amount the throttle opens? If my undestanding is correct the modified part in the link is a smaller diameter so requires less pedal travel to rotate the same distance as the OEM part. Would you not need that as well as adjusting the stops?

Hi Tony

I ordered that part today. The guy didn't seem too interested in a bulk purchase/deal?? Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

I was under the impression your problem was pedal placement for heal&toe?

de-creasing throttle travel will not help this, moving the stops etc will.

I have also set my own pedals up for heel and toe. Being 6'4" I wanted to liberate some addtional leg space.

I wanted to move the pedal travel further into the footwell, so I set the fully depressed throttle as low as i could by replacing the bolt and then adjusted the cable at the throttle body. I then adjusted the brake pedal height to match the newly lowered pedal.

(Just a side note Tony You need to adjust the upstop so there is only the slightest bit of slack in the system to have it react as soon as you blip the throttle.)

This part from Japan is quite interesting to me, as you may be able to lower the pedals further because it will require less throttle travel.

Gareth what did they charge you for this including shipping?

I had the same issue on my 2004 exige. The only solution that worked was to by a "h&t pad" that was made in America (I found the solution via lotustalk.com). Unfortunatley it had sold out, but managed to find one on a japanese website.

Cut a long story short... it made a HUGE difference and made heel and toeing easy, which made the car what it should have been in the first place.

My H&T pad is actually for sale as I sold my exige yesterday without it. I'm selling for £100 (it cost £110), pm me if you're interested...

I paid £67-ish for it, including P&P but I'm currently in Japan on business so that doesn't really help you.

As you mention, part of the reason I am getting it in addition to H&T is so it frees up a little more space down there and also means my ankle isn't at such an angle on the throttle when doing long journeys when it can sometimes get tiring.
