I've ran my car on Tesco Unleaded for the past 6 months, I thought I might ask here if it makes any difference top these cars, and if so what, by using super unleaded? Is it worth the extra cost, what sort of MPG gain, if any can I expect and will the car perform better? At the moment I am doing a lot of short journeys, around town mostly less than 5 miles and the car has averaged 22.9 mpg over 1500 miles in the last 8-10 weeks.

Not much to show for economy in all likelihood, especially with town driving mainly, but cleaner internals.
Tesco's regular UL is pretty decent, but I'd suggest you find a localish Texaco selling both UL and SUL (High Octane they call it).
I'd also suggest to treat the old girl to BG Product's BG 44K and engine flush when doing the next oil change.
Even a change of oil to something less viscous would help improve mpg, as well as the air filter replaced/cleaned regularly.

I can vouch for this engine cleaner "BG Product's BG 44K", helped my old mazda mx-3 get past the emissions test for the MOT when everything else failed.....quality product

I run exactly the same car and used to put super (vpower / bp ultimate) in all the time. I switched from bp ultimate to normal unleaded and got 2mpg more out of a tank over exact same route / weather etc. Only use normal 95 ron now.

I tried V Power for a few fills, didn't notice any performance or economy changes. BP Ultimate felt a bit perkier but no change in economy so it was back to regular UL for me.

Cheers,
