Okay, maybe its just me.

I might be getting old, or I might have ear failure.

But the last few days Radio 1 have been replaying live songs from the Big Weekend in Swindon, from Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen, Scouting for Girls etc.

And every one of them, without fail, sounded absolutely frikking terrible.

Especially SfG - a deaf mute would've sounded better.

Surely the bids at Radio 1 must be able to hear how awful it sounds?

And why can none of these new bands play live?

And why am I bothered about it?

Answers on a postcard please.

I was working on the car on Saturday and had the radio on in the garage, they were playing a lot of the 1BW stuff, Id agree that 99% of it sounded awful.

I agree, I just don't get Radio 1 anymore, or the music it plays.

A bonus of getting older.

I think alot of it is poor broadcast/recording, The stage was probably set up for live rather than recording.

Saying that SfG are dire

Well Dizzee is an accquired taste anyway, and not one of mine, so i can leave him be.

But Scouting for Girls were off key, pitchy, shouting, doing that thing where they don't bother singing the high notes, just stick the mic into the audience.

Rubbish, lazy performing.

Pink is an amazing performer - always pitch perfect, puts on a great show - could really show these new bands a thing or two.

Not listened to much back but they got the levels wrong for the first few songs of Lily Allen on Sunday - could barely hear her.

What gets me is the constant corporate, Radio 1 self-congratulation about these events.

Radio 6 all the way for me these days. Apart from a bit of Pete Tong and Rob da Bank on listen again.

ndubz were surprisingly good, they are not that big that they have to not try anymore.

akon on the other hand sounded like he had his album playing in the background, whilst being carried around on a massive blokes shoulders naked letting every 1 touch him....
