another TVR funny or something wrong
Discussion
Got into the car this morning and went to open the boot and nothing (wife is giving me untold grief about buying a car that stuffs up after a week of ownership).
Proceeded to use the special process to unlock it, then locked it again. Then I set the alarm, unset it, set it x 5 time and guess what....boot release switch starts working!!!!!!!
Is this another TVR as standard feature or something more sinister?

Try checking the wires etc and the connectors behind the door pillars behind the seats as this can get damp and corrode making a poor contact??
Otherwise check the earthing points for poor contact.
And yes its a typical TVR type gremlin

One word of warning when proceding to insert one's hand's behind the side panels (behind both seats)is be careful of the spiky fibreglass this applies to anywhere on the car that is normally hidden from view that they don't bother to sand down!!
As i had the same problem 18 months ago when i got my first chim, and was pulling glass needles from my fingers for days, as they say forwarned is forarmed.
Oh yes!! and that was where the problem with the locking was
Dave...Valhalla
PS..Tell the missus from us lot that "it will get better"
Seems like every Monday lunch time, I go back to my car and it won't open - hav a little routine to try to open it including bumping into the doors with my hip, using the blipper to lock and unlock and phoning hubby - just so's he knows i'm stuck in the car park and can share in my embarrasement and I look like i'm tooo busy on the phone to get into the car!!! .... ahh .. the joys!!

Another Chimp question here. You lot don't inspire confidence...
That's cos most of us worry about losing our licences, whether we'll manage to hit 170 on the next track day, or running out of petrol because we just kept driving for the sheer hell of it.... not whether very occasionally the boot might not open or the remote might not lock.

I see, so you're no better at choosing the correct gear than you are at choosing the correct forum. What the Griff owners say about Chimp drivers is true then...

You are a happy soul aren't you
First of all, I was referring to... "Is this another TVR as standard feature or something more sinister?"... and so my somewhat light hearted reply was aimed at TVRs in general, some of which can indeed hit 170mph.
Second - sorry if I've offended you by posting on this forum, but I was sure this was the General TVR stuff and gossip
Third - I haven't a clue what you're on about by "choosing the correct gear". I would hazard a guess that most of the guys that have had the pleasure of hitting 170 will have probably been in top? Just a guess mind you.
Never mind, you either get it or you don't - those that do don't worry about the odd little niggle here and there, we just love the cars. I appreciate a Wedge or a Chim just as much as my Griff and the more you drive them, the more you love them
Oh, and just a small point, the majority of Chimaera owners hate them being called chimps!
Hmmm, sorry, I'm normally much more laid back than this, must have been a bad day
