Should I be concerned about buying a A4 2.0l tdi 140 bhp with high miles.

Looking at 05 plates with between 60 & 85k miles, fsh a must but when should cam belts need changing.

That mileage is nothing - had a few of these, highest tdi went to 180k before selling.

80k for the belt on my Passat, so probably same on Audi.

My last company car had 95,000 miles on it (55 plate 140BHP Passat 2.0Tdi) and it was running better then than when it was new! Someone got a good car whereever it went.

Belts should have been changed already - as I recall they should be done on either 60 or 80k miles.

Watch for clutch issues, though - I had a Passat with that lump - the clutch gave up on around 110k miles. Total bill from a VW dealer, including new DMF was around £1k. Fortunately it was billed to Leaseplan smile

Engine was fine - the only other issue I know of is to check it has had the diesel lifter pump under the rear seat (that's where it is on a Passat, anyway) replaced. They usually give up the ghost from 60k miles onwards - bringing the car to a shuddering halt.

Mine gave up at 0.8 leptons in the right hand lane of a dual carriageway. Not nice.
