Is phantom black mettalic or flat black ?.

A fiver says the definitions have become somewhat blurred - but a metallic paint contains minute metallic particles whereas a pearl paint is a tinted clearcoat.

Either way, Phantom is not a gloss (flat) black - it's a pearl/metallic depending on whose definition you want to listen to.

I have a car in Daytona which is a pearlescent, the pearl paint has multicoloured particles rather than just silver metallic particles. I believe that the particles are Mica. My G33 has a blue pearl and it has similar particles, the wifes seat leon is a metallic and the bits are just silver.

Pearls therefore reflect the light differently.

Hi Dr G, I see you have both a phantom black and pearl phantom black on 2 rs4's in stock at Fontain..(I'm assuming you work for Fontain from previous posts!) Is there much of a difference??

Yes - two different people put them on the site, one evidently in a hurry as that car was listed as having blue leatehr until I changed it at luch time

They're both Phantom Black pearl.
