Hey all,

Quick one, GF wants me to fix the brakes on her '03 Ibiza 1.2 (60hp odd of tyre burning fun... not). They screach and pulsate (about 105k on the clock), so probably totally shot, and I'll replace the lot.

Do these cars have any special tool requirements for doing the job?

Euro Car Parts list two ATE front disc sizes:
256 x 36.6 (For PR No.: 1LQ;1ZF)
288 x 34.5 (For PR No.: 1LN;1ZH)

Anyone know what is the right one? Or anyone else I should use for VAG parts

Cheers

The only way to know which ones are correct is to refer to the car Chassis No. I'm pretty sure that's waht the 3 digit code referred to in brackets is.

GSF is another option if you are looking for VAG parts.

Cheers bob, that makes sense - getting her to get the VIN.

Other from that, nothing needed other than standard sockets, hex keys or torx keys?

From memory from Fabia manual - only other thing is something to hang calipers from ( and they're basiclly the same car) .

You could try here for a quote -http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/

She wrote down the VIN, but it didn't have match on the 3 digit code. Probably have to wait until she brings it down again, and whip off a wheel and check.
I would guess and say it is the smaller diameter rotor.

those codes are build codes, and you wont find a reference to them in the vin number.

You will find the codes on the white sticker in your boot(spare wheel well) or inside the front cover of your service book

even easier, phone a dealer and get the part number/size out of them, or post the engine code and i will have a look and see if i can cross reference them to a polo.
