Hi
Hope you dont mind me asking. I am about toi replace the front discs and pads on a 3.0tdi A6 Le Mans 2007 model year. Any particular pitfalls I need to look out for? Eg are the discs handed?, piston wind back?
Oh an dthe box the pads came in says A4 - are the pads the same as A4 ones?

Fronts are a doddle, there are no special tools, if you've done any Audi brakes before its the same. If you have done other brakes before, will be very similar. Be carefully with the wear sensor connections, make sure everything is cleaned and copper grease on the conntacting areas between pad and claiper carrier is a good idea.
Don't rip the middle out of the torx screw that retains the disc. Dont over stress the flexi pipes. Be careful with the big sprung clip, and do one side at a time so you have a reference if you cant remember how it goes back together.
PUMP THE PEDAL before you drive off.
Discs are only handed on very high performance models and Q7, Not 3.0TDI
A6 discs and pads might be the same as higher spec A4 but I couldn't tell you for sure, I fit what the parts dept. give me. I hope your using genuine ones??
The rears are more technical as you need to electronically retract the park brake.
Don't rip the middle out of the torx screw that retains the disc. Dont over stress the flexi pipes. Be careful with the big sprung clip, and do one side at a time so you have a reference if you cant remember how it goes back together.

Thanks thats really useful advice. I have done discs before but not for a few years. Of course they are genuine Audi parts, and the job would have been done at a dealer, except my return trip to my local dealer is about the same time as I expect it to take me to do the job.Don't rip the middle out of the torx screw that retains the disc.
