Hi all,
Need to try and cure a mis-fire problem with the 450. What's the latest thinking on the best make of HV leads, distributor cap and the covers for the spark plugs?
Cheers,
Matt

Had my problems sorted by Mark Adams, he recommends Magnecor leads and a Bosch coil. Don't know about other items.

With magnecors you should be using NON-resistive spark plug caps, available from ACT.

Morning,

I changed to bosch leads (from halfords bout £24) they seem pretty good compared with £65 for Magenecor's. Dizzy cap should be Lucus as should rotor arm. As for the plug caps i changed mine when i did the leads for the ACT ones which then when used with standard leads gives lots of interferance which has affected the radio and rev counter. So you can either go for magnecor leads with the ACT caps or Bosch type leads with the standard TVR caps. If your caps aren't in bad conditio i wouldn't change them - unfortuneatly mine were falling apart.

As to where to buy the standard caps from i'm not sure i believe they are Vauxhall but TVR dealers also carry them.

The spark plug caps are from a Vauxhall Cavillier about £8 each from Vauxhall.

and normally significantly cheaper from TVR.. it may well be just these that are causing the poor running, if they are knackered..

Cheers
Matt.

What do the caps do then?
Are they just attenuators, to stop interference with the radio? These wouldn't cause bad running then would they?
I don't get any radio interference, so do I need to change them? I just want to cure the occassional misfiring.

Cheers.
